GULZ started as one man bedroom project from Gulz Dhanoya; singer/songwriter/producer/ doctor/ ‘artiste’ from Newcastle upon Tyne, and has since evolved into an irresistible four-piece that can’t stop selling out shows across London and the North East.
Proud residents of Pirate Studios Camden, the band, (Eliza Lassman, Sam Stonor, Josh Schlanker) have spent the last year fine-tuning their sound before hitting the road and selling out gig after gig.
It’s loud. It’s Pop. It’s rough-round-the-edges. But it’s sweet….
The boys have been featured on BBC Radio 1, 1Xtra, Asian Network and BBC6Music, They have racked up regular spins from Steve Lamacq on BBC6 Music, BBC Asian Network, Amazing Radio UK and US, BBC Introducing, and become favourites amongst London’s beloved independent Soho, Islington and Hoxton radio stations.
The group have begun to make a name for themselves with press features on BBC NEWS, North West Londoner, ‘Vibez magazine’, ‘NEVolume’, ‘Alternative Fix’, ‘Totally Wired Magazine’ and ‘ITSALLINDIE’
When asked about their sound on BBC Radio, frontman Gulz said, ‘Yeah it’s pretty cool. You might like it’.
The underbelly of British Culture; usually tucked away in quiet corners of the collective memory of this nation. Britain isn’t tea, the monarchy, or pastures green. It’s a man so invested in a Newcastle side who have lost the Tyne and Wear derby 3-0, he's absolutely prepared to fight a horse.
This piece represents the delicate balance between passion and stupidity; two elements we value immensely.
